Over the past year, we as a Church Leadership Council have been evaluating the roles of the CLC and the Eldership. There have been two major concerns with the current model. The first concern has been with the lack of clarity—it has not always been clear which matters should be the responsibility of Elders and which should fall to the whole CLC to deal with. The second concern has been that, in the current model, all Elders are required to sit on the CLC. This discourages church members with deep spiritual wisdom and maturity from becoming Elders if they do not feel they are gifted at dealing with the details that the CLC regularly has to address.

This paper presents a proposed new model describing the roles and process of appointment of the CLC and the Eldership.
